I like "The Night Before Summer Vacation" (can't remember the author and I'm not at school). It's put out by scholastic, I think. Also, I've done a take off of the "little Monster" books by Mercer Mayer. We did "In January I......" and the re-curring phrase "Just me and My class". Turned out pretty cute, and does let you know what the kids thought was valuable (and fun!)

What are some of your favorite books/literacy activities for ending the school year? I'm thinking of using a tip from "The Big Fresh" and using "When I Was Young in the Mountains" by Cynthia Rylant. I'm thinking we'll read the book & talk about memories. As a group, we'll develop our own book "When I Was Young in the Speech Room" and have each child make a page with their own favorite memories from this year. :) Sherri
