Description:
A compound word is created when two words are joined together to form a new word. This activity teaches compound words through matching. Print the 16 pages, adhere to magnetic media, and cut out into individual magnets. Print the 17th page on a letter sized inkjet decal and adhere to an appropriate magnetic surface. Match the compound word magnet with the compound word image using the decal as a grid, similar to activities described in my book, Teaching by Design: Using Your Computer to Create Materials for Students with Learning Differences (SKU R3KV100) and Teaching by Design with Boardmaker (SKU M1MJ223), both available from Mayer-Johnson. This activity is intended to be paired with my Compound Words Activity for Boardmaker Plus! that uses movable and speaking buttons to teach the same set of compound words, and then test comprehension.
